If the display against West Ham in what was the last Premier League match of 2024 was anything to go by, Liverpool are firm favorites for the title this year. They smashed 5 past the Hammers, who, in the real sense, were good in their own right. It was just that the Merseysiders in red are enjoying a hot streak.
Their forward line has a real sharpness about it. While in the last season they were in and out of form, this year all of them seem to have hit their strides. Darwin Nunez is looking sharp. Diogo Jota, when he gets off the bench, is busy and effective. Cody Gakpo has harried the defensive lines unlike the last year. The magic is but entirely the making of Mohammed Salah. What a brilliant run he is having. He is scoring at will; as he runs behind the lines, he reaches long balls with ridiculous speed, and when not going for goal, he is creating for his partners in crime. Salah has been the one difference that many teams have been unable to handle.
The defense looks organized with Virgil Van Dyke back to his imposing presence. The likes of Gomez and Konate are steady in their leaders company. Trent Arnold is back to his good old days. His crosses are more threatening than ever; the pace is right, the flight perfect, and the dip in the ball is just wicked.

The manager Arne Slot ,a relatively unknown character for the Premier League regulars, has done great work in not tinkering with what he has inherited from Jurgen Klopp. Slot seems to have brought small tactical changes, and they have worked.
